Dear John, It was a busy week in Washington, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting for our conservative values. Speaker McCarthy has appointed me to serve on the House Ethics Committee. Members of Congress should hold themselves to a higher standard as servants of the public. I look forward to building this trust and accountability with the American people. This week, I joined my colleagues in voting to remove Congresswoman Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Ms. Omar has repeatedly peddled antisemitic tropes and anti-Israel rhetoric. This is not only unbecoming of the office she holds; such rhetoric should not have a platform on a committee that shapes foreign policy. Democrats set the precedent for committee removals when they ejected Republican members from their assignments last Congress. We will hold them to the same standard they hold us to. Last month, there was troubling testimony from a DACA recipient who claimed that illegal immigrants were voting in Minnesota. I joined Republican Congressmembers from our state’s delegation in demanding that Secretary of State Steve Simon investigate claims that non-citizens are voting in our elections. We can’t have a functioning democracy without faith and integrity in the electoral process. Minnesotans deserve to know what steps Secretary Simon will take to reassure the public that our elections are secure and free of fraud. As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with. Thank you for your continued support! |
