February 4 is Transit Equity Day—a day to honor civil rights icon Rosa Parks and reflect on the value of public transportation in advancing racial and social equality as well as providing access to vital education and employment opportunities. | Marking the birthday of Rosa Parks, Transit Equity Day is a good time to reflect on the critical role access to public transit plays in connecting people to jobs and economic opportunities that will help us build a truly equitable society for all. Access to public transportation increases mobility options for low–income workers, supports the development of affordable housing, and helps foster new business growth—all of which translates to stronger, more vibrant communities.
