This week began Black History Month. As we celebrate the legacy of Black Americans throughout this nation's history, I think about my parents and the whole community which raised me in the heart of the Civil Rights Movement. All month long, we will celebrate the stories of those who have shaped history and created a better future for those who walked in their footsteps.

I am proud to stand up for students in America who are working hard to earn a college degree without being burdened by insurmountable debt. This week, I was proud to introduce legislation with my colleagues to provide a safety net for student loan borrowers as the end of the pause in student loan repayments looms. Our legislation will ease this pending transition and provide resources to protect the financial security of student borrowers. For more information, you can read our press release.

On Thursday, I was proud to attend and co-host the 2023 National Prayer Breakfast. It was my honor to welcome President Biden and congressional leaders from both parties to join in prayer for our country. For Americans of all faiths, or no faith at all, it is my prayer that we be reconciled in love to one another for our nation's greater good.
