It is that time of the year again: time to join us at a Budget Engagement Forum! Budget Engagement Forums are an important part of the budget process ? an opportunity for me to hear directly from residents about your budget ideas?before I send my budget to the Council.?
Next week, we are bringing back our in-person Budget Engagement Forums, with an evening option and a morning option.?

MLK?s Beloved Community and the DC Art Bank: Join the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the DC Public Library for a panel exploring how the Art Bank pieces on the walls at the MLK Library might bring Dr. King's teachings to life.

Black Homeownership Workshop Series: Join the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking, and the Mayor?s Office of African American Affairs for a workshop series focused on Black Homeownership to support the Mayor?s goal of adding 20,000 new Black homeowners by 2030.

The Past, Present, and Future of Black Resistance in the District and Beyond Panel: Join the DC Office of Human Rights, in partnership with the Mayor?s Office on African American Affairs, for an intergenerational hybrid panel discussion between scholars, activists, and community leaders about historic and on-going efforts to strive for equality and what the future looks like.

Applications for the Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program are now open. District youth between the ages of 14 to 24 are encouraged to apply online at summerjobs.dc.gov. Applications will be accepted through Tuesday, February 28. Employers who want to host participants are also encouraged to reach out through summerjobs.dc.gov.
Young people will participate in six weeks of paid work through subsidized placements in the private and public sectors. Orientation for the program begins on Monday, June 26 and the program ends on Friday, August 4.

Mayor Bowser is inviting residents to register for the 5th annual FITDC?HerStory 5K, which will be held in-person at Freedom Plaza on Saturday, March 4. The FITDC HerStory 5K is a Women?s History Month tradition that routinely draws in over 2,500 participants from all eight wards. Register to enjoy a scenic race route down Pennsylvania Avenue NW, women-owned business vendors, live DJs, and a 360-photo booth.
Registration is free and individuals can now register at herstory5k.com. Same-day registration and packet pick-up will begin at 9:00 a.m. on March 4 and the 5K will begin at 10:00 a.m.

The Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services is seeking community-based organizations to provide programming for at-risk youth ages 10 to 14.?Programming should be focused on areas of intensive mentoring, career readiness, and social development.
Selected applicants will receive up to $500,000 for an 18-month period beginning March 23.?The deadline for all submissions is February 24 at 4:30 p.m.
