Dear John,
This year we have an opportunity to create a brighter future for Florida’s children, to make sure they receive a world-class education, and to make sure every child feels welcome and loved at their school, no matter their race, religion, sexual orientation or ZIP code.
The start of the 2023 legislative session is just one month away. As we did last year, we are going to be sure push for your priorities: better pay, a more secure retirement, the freedom to teach, and restoring respect to the education profession.
While we fight for the things that will make our public schools strong, we know we also must be prepared to push back on ideas such as universal vouchers that are designed to dismantle public education.

Your voice is an essential part of our advocacy during session. Lawmakers need to hear directly from the educators who are impacted by the laws they pass. To help make sure your voice is heard we will once again be having Power Hours [link removed] starting Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m. EST.
This is your opportunity to get an update on what’s happening in the Legislature, hear from special guests including elected officials, and most importantly take action to stand up for yourself, your colleagues, and your students.
Our first Power Hour will be this Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m. EST [link removed]. Starting on March 7, we will have weekly Power Hours each Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. EST for the rest of the legislative session.
In solidarity,
Andrew Spar, President
