John,
February is Black History Month, an opportunity to honor and celebrate the achievements of Black Americans throughout our country’s history. Black Americans are fundamental to the cultural fabric of West Michigan and contribute so much to communities across our district and nation.
As we celebrate this rich history, we also acknowledge how much work we still need to do to achieve racial justice and true equity in this nation. Together, we must remember and confront the impacts of racism, prejudice, and hate that are all too present in our nation still today.
I am proud to have spent my career working towards social justice, from advancing racial justice through voting rights to addressing housing and educational disparities and fighting discrimination in the criminal justice system. My commitment to these values continues now in my representation in Congress.
Happy Black History Month!
Sincerely,
Hillary
