There has been a lot of talk in the media about raising the debt ceiling and addressing Washington's reckless government spending. Republicans are fighting to put America on a better fiscal path. We will have to raise the debt ceiling, but we must do that with spending control. Congress's responsibility to meet our country's financial obligations goes beyond just raising the debt limit – we must not allow debt to spiral out of control and burden future generations. Interest payments on our debt are projected to triple over the next 10 years, reaching $1.2 trillion and crowding out investment in other important programs. Democrats pushed spending to this limit on a purely partisan basis – now they should work with Republicans to put our country back on track.
I want to make it clear...contrary to the scare tactics President Biden, and the White House are pushing, Republicans will NOT cut Social Security or Medicare. We remain focused on a responsible, reasonable, and sensible budget that will not hamstring our children's and grandchildren's future.

The Biden administration continues to attack our Second Amendment. On January 13, the Attorney General signed the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) rule that would treat any firearms with stabilizing accessories as short-barreled rifles. Federal agencies do not have the power to write new laws, and yet the ATF continues to attempt to expand its authority using the federal rulemaking process.
The Second Amendment is clear: “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. But the Far Left’s dangerous attack on the United States Constitution continues unabated with the ATF’s unconstitutional pistol brace rule. We are done sitting back and letting a bunch of faceless bureaucrats destroy the Second Amendment. I will continue to fight for every single law-abiding gun owner.

Do you agree with the ATF's rule to treat firearms with stabilizing accessories like short-barreled rifles?

Joe Biden's historic border crisis is only getting worse under this administration's failing open-border policies. We have lost operational control. In the first three months of FY 2023, CBP arrested 6,980 individuals with criminal convictions, including 146 known gang members, 52 of those being MS-13 members. Every SINGLE state is now a BORDER state.
This week, I called for the impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas for his willful disregard of the laws of the United States, releasing inadmissible aliens into the interior of the country, and failing to secure and maintain operational control of the southern border. Sec. Mayorkas has claimed over and over that our border is secure and there is no crisis at the southern border. This is simply not true. Nothing screams "secure," like 4.5 million illegal immigrants crossing the southern border. I am done sitting back and watching the Biden administration's failures, including those of the Secretary of Homeland Security. The times—and the crimes—demand Secretary Mayorkas' impeachment.

This week, the Energy and Commerce Committee had our first full hearing on Restoring American Dominance. Energy is foundational to every aspect of Americans' lives. We discussed the importance of leading the world in emissions reductions while increasing the availability of affordable energy through innovation.
House Republicans continue to deliver on their Commitment to America. We passed the Freedom for Health Care Workers Act, and the Pandemic is Over Act. It is past time to end the COVID-19 pandemic and end the authoritarian policies that have used the guise of COVID-19 to attack Americans' personal freedoms. The American people know that the COVID-19 pandemic is over—it's time for the federal government to act like it.
We also voted to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee for her long history of anti-Semitic statements. I am a co-chair of the Bipartisan Task Force for Combatting Antisemitism, and I'm committed to combating antisemitism in all its forms. The rise of anti-Semitic attacks should deeply concern us all - an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us.

Team Weber attended the Alvin-Manvel Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony to honor Constable David Thacker, where we presented a certificate. They also celebrated Stephen Klineberg’s retirement from the Houston Chronicle hosted by the American Jewish Council. He was a famous demographer and statistician in Houston for the last 40 years. Congrats Stephen! Finally, Team Weber attended other events, including the Economic Development Alliance for Brazoria County, the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce dinner, the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership award banquet, the Southeast Texas Planning Commission, and the annual gala for Vidor Chamber of Commerce.
