John,
On Wednesday, Summer participated in her first hearing as a member of the
Committee on Oversight and Accountability — and it was predictably
Republican.
At a time when corporations are picking the pockets of working families,
Republicans spent their first Oversight hearing of the 118th Congress
attacking COVID relief programs like expanded unemployment insurance
benefits and support for small businesses.
It’s as if corporations themselves are running Congress with GOP
priorities like these:

Simply put, instead of protecting taxpayers from the interests of
billionaires, Republicans are catering to the far right and distorting
reality. Here are the facts: Elon Musk is a union-buster, civil rights
must be a priority of the House, and white supremacist super-villains like
Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and Paul Gosar have no place in
Congress.
But this is the GOP playbook. Distract voters with right-wing propaganda
while they make backroom deals with their wealthy donors to cut Social
Security and Medicare.
Now more than ever, we need working-class champions like Summer who will
take on right-wing extremists to deliver on the needs of working families.
With our support, Summer will continue to be a voice of the people on the
Oversight Committee and cut through the GOP noise.
