Friend,

Transparency and accessibility are at the heart of my job as your representative Iowans' feedback will always drive my work in Congress.

This week, I held my first telephone town hall of the year to hear directly from you. Folks called in with questions about taking on the Chinese Communist Party, how we can secure our border, and the importance of reining in out-of-control Washington spending.

There is nothing more valuable to me than hearing from Iowans so that I can tell your stories in Washington as I fight for policies that will improve your everyday lives. I will listen to you, I will take your feedback to heart, and I will fight for policies that matter to you and your family.

Last Congress, I held an in-person town hall in every county of our district and fourteen telephone town halls to allow me to hear directly from Iowans when I am in Washington. I will do the same in all 22 counties across our district this Congress and I hope to see you or hear from you at one of our meetings.

Read on for more information about my work for you and your family this week!

Best,

New Bill: The PELL Act

Empowering students and workers in Iowa is a top priority for me, and I've prioritized visiting community colleges across our district to learn about the educational opportunities they offer to help students succeed in their chosen career path. As part of my work to increase access to these opportunities, I helped introduce the Promoting Employment and Lifelong Learning (PELL) Act, which expands educational and credentialing opportunities for workers looking to gain skills in high-demand fields.

Check out what local community colleges have to say about the bill HERE.

The Pandemic is Over

The Biden Administration still has the COVID-19 national and public health emergencies in place. For the Biden Administration, this isn't about public health or safety. It's about control -- control over whether you send your kids to school, control over where you go, and control over how you live your life. This week, House Republicans announced a vote to end the COVID-19 public health emergency, and just like that, the Administration said they would end the order in May. That's what accountability looks like! Watch my full video message on our work HERE.

WATCH: Pushing for Accountability at the FDA

This week, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that no one at the agency would be fired following the baby formula crisis. Only in Washington, DC, could there be a failure of that magnitude with such little accountability. I joined Fox Business to discuss the importance of holding the FDA accountable and ensuring the agency develops a concrete plan to prevent shortages of baby formula and other critical goods that families need. Watch my interview HERE.

Pushing Back Against Federal Overreach

Last week, I helped introduce the Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act. This bill would ensure any major rules proposed by the Administration are subject to Congressional approval, taking power away from unelected bureaucrats in Washington, DC, and rightly returning it to the people. One of the most egregious examples of overreaching rulemaking by the Biden Administration is the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule. Under the Biden Administration's new WOTUS rule, 97% of land in Iowa would be subject to federal regulation -- this would devastate farmers and homeowners. In addition to introducing the REINS Act, I also helped introduce a resolution of disapproval against WOTUS. I will always push back against federal overreach that hurts Iowans and work to get the government out of where it doesn't belong.

Meeting with President Wintersteen

It was great to meet with President Wintersteen in Washington, DC, this week to discuss Iowa State University’s priorities this year. Go Cyclones!

Dairyland Power Cooperative

I had a great conversation with Dairyland Power Cooperative this week. We discussed the importance of an all-of-the-above energy strategy to lower utility bills and their work to deploy reliable broadband in our rural communities.
