Greetings,
We hope you had a great week so far as we wrap up the first few weeks of 2023.
It is February already which means it is also Black History Month! This is an important opportunity to honor Black achievement, heroes, and history. Black history is American history. By listening and learning from diverse voices we can achieve equality, safety, and justice for Black communities. Throughout the month, we are committed to reflecting on the need to better understand one another and the togetherness we can all achieve through better appreciation of our individualities.
Gun Violence Survivors Week also began this week. As our nation continues to grapple with needless gun violence, we continue our work to make our homes, schools, and communities safer. From background checks to red flag laws, and more, we have solutions to fight for and will keep working toward.
As always, we hope you find these updates and resources helpful.
Congressman Kim Holds First Town Hall of 118th Congress in Allentown!
Last Friday, Congressman Kim held his first town hall of the new year and new Congress with neighbors from across the district in Burlington, Mercer, and Monmouth Counties. He heard from community members about issues that are important to them like prioritizing military personnel. The Congressman also spoke about his work to build off recent successes in lowering prescription drug costs for seniors, his support for paid parental leave, and his initiatives to restore trust in our democracy through banning Members of Congress from owning stocks.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in Allentown! We look forward to our next town hall and hearing more from all of you.

Congressman Kim Leads Efforts to Honor An American Hero with a Congressional Gold Medal
This week, Congressman Kim helped introduce a bill to award the Congressional Gold Medal to Colonel Kim Young-oak for his service in uniform and as a steadfast community leader. Passing this resolution would recognize Col. Kim's impact on countless lives, resilience against systemic racism, and his bravery fighting for our nation. It would also help honor the many heroes and contributions of our Asian American community that deserve to be seen and celebrated.
A Conversation with New Jersey’s EPA Regional Administrator
On Thursday, Congressman Kim spoke with EPA Regional Administrator Lisa Garcia about the progress of local projects and long-term goals.
From lead-free water to clean emissions, federal funds put us on a good path. Together, we want to do the most we can to make a healthier planet for our kids. Our office is committed to following federal funding as it works to solve infrastructure issues in our local communities. We want to make sure these funds are getting to where they are needed most in the most efficient way possible.

New Progress in Removing Lead from New Jersey’s Water Infrastructure
Congressman Kim helped announce the Environmental Protection Agency’s partnership with New Jersey and three other states in a new initiative to remove lead from our local water.
Congressman Kim on the EPA’s Initiative and Partnership
“Lead-free drinking water shouldn’t be a luxury, it should be a basic right guaranteed to everyone. I am proud to have voted for the bipartisan infrastructure law that will fund projects like this one and so many more that will work towards repairing New Jersey’s crumbling infrastructure. Many towns in my district know what it’s like being unable to trust the water coming into their home or business. That’s why I’m glad to see the EPA’s new initiative is taking the step forward that we need to make sure risk-free, safe, and healthy water is a reality for everyone in New Jersey. I look forward to keeping tabs on this project through to its conclusion because everyone deserves reliable, clean water.”
