John, did you catch Tram's email yesterday?
We set a goal to raise $20,000 to fuel New Virginia Majority’s organizing efforts as we fight to take back the House of Delegates and build progressive power in the Commonwealth.
We’ve made a lot of progress! But, we’re still $7,800 short of our goal. Can you chip in $15 to help us close the gap? 100% of your donation will go directly to New Virginia Majority.

New Virginia Majority is one of our State Bridges partners, building a new power bloc of Black, brown, young, and working-class people in Virginia — and they’re effective. Through their organizing, they’ve helped to:
✅ Restore voting rights to thousands of formerly incarcerated Virginians in 2016
✅ Pass Medicaid expansion in 2018
✅ Flip the state legislature to Democratic control for the first time in 25 years in 2019
From hiring organizers to expanding their ground game, your investment today will make a massive difference in their ability to do even more this year.
So, John, can we count on you to make a $15 investment in New Virginia Majority today?
This fight will take all of us. Read Tram’s email below to learn more about NVM, and why it’s so crucial to invest in local power-building organizations and the activists who lead them.
Thank you — and more soon!

Subject: Why I helped launch New Virginia Majority:
To: John [[email protected]]
Hi John, I’m Tram Nguyen, and I’m the co-executive director of New Virginia Majority (NVM).
NVM is a multi-issue, multiracial, and multilingual movement for a just and democratic Virginia, and we’re a proud partner of Sister District’s State Bridges program.
Today, I’d like to talk to you about why I helped launch New Virginia Majority — then share my perspective on why investing in local community organizing in Virginia is so important.
However, if you’re ready to support our organizing work in Virginia, please make a donation today.

40 years ago, my mom and dad left Vietnam and risked everything to pursue a just and equitable life. They had a dream that propelled them to keep going, despite the challenges that lay ahead. And that dream was America, pure and simple, and the promises of freedom and equality and justice that she holds.
But decades later, that promise continues to be threatened, and our biggest fights are happening right now at the state level.
So, in 2008, I helped start New Virginia Majority to organize and engage new Americans like me, black and brown people, young people, and working-class folks to form a new majority — a new power bloc in the Commonwealth.
Back then, very few believed that Virginia could be a protagonist in the story of a more just and inclusive democracy and that we could potentially lead the way for progressive victories across the country.
But after years of organizing, New Virginia Majority helped to restore voting rights to thousands of formerly incarcerated Virginians in 2016, passed Medicaid expansion in 2018, and flipped the state legislature to Democratic control for the first time in 25 years in 2019.
John, New Virginia Majority sees the state legislature as critical to the progressive transformation of Virginia — and Sister District set a goal to raise $20,000 to help keep our work going strong.
If you’re able, will you pitch in to support New Virginia Majority and help close the $8,000 gap? Every donation will help us hire more organizers, expand our field program, and build permanent progressive power in Virginia.
