Friend,
It has been a whirlwind few weeks since my swearing in - but I'm working to do exactly what I said I would: roll up my sleeves and hit the ground running!
From briefing the General Assembly on our agency to highlighting the Earned Income Tax Credit at events around the state to participating in my first State Retirement & Pension Board meeting, I have been hard at work to jumpstart implementing our priorities.
A big highlight last week was participating in my first Board of Public Works meeting. Governor Moore, Treasurer Davis and I discussed our shared commitment to equity and transparency - and tackled some major agenda items in our State budget while we were at it, approving more than $3.5 million dollars to prime MBE contractors and more than $12 million to small business contractors, an MoU between Prince George's County and the Maryland Stadium Authority that will support transit-oriented growth in the county, and a contract for a new Baltimore City District Court that many experts have told us will play a critical role in improving public safety in Baltimore.
