John, As a leading force in the courts working to defend our democracy, Free Speech For People, with Equal Citizens, is advancing an important new case in Massachusetts to end super PAC spending in the state. Free Speech For People and Equal Citizens, on behalf of individual Massachusetts voters, filed two lawsuits in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court (the state’s highest court) in October after the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office declined to certify our proposed ballot initiative petition to abolish super PAC spending in Massachusetts elections. This case could ultimately lead to an end to super PAC spending in the state and could provide critical legal precedent for ending super PACs nationwide. Join us on Monday, February 6 to watch oral arguments in our case to abolish super PACs in Massachusetts. Ron Fein, Legal Director for Free Speech For People, and Lawrence Lessig, Professor at Harvard Law School, will present the argument to the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts in this case. The oral argument will be livestreamed on the Suffolk University Law School webpage, available here. The court will hear several cases on February 6 with the final order to be posted at 9:00 am ET that morning at the livestream link. Your support of Free Speech For People makes this work and all of our work possible. We thank you for your commitment to a stronger democracy for we, the people, and look forward to keeping you updated on our progress. Onward, Free Speech For People |
