I wanted to take a moment to thank you for being such an important part of our team. January was a difficult month for many of us, especially in California. Your support this month has made me energized to continue to fight against the plague of gun violence we see in our state and in our country.

In January alone, six mass shootings rocked our California community, claiming 46 lives. Friend, one life lost to gun violence is too many. My heart goes out to those suffering from the aftermath of these attacks in Goshen, Monterey Park, Half Moon Bay, Oakland, and Beverly Crest.

Congress’s inability to pass meaningful legislation to end the gun violence epidemic is a moral failure, plain and clear. I have made it my personal mission to hold my colleagues accountable to our communities.

I’m going into February feeling energized by your support, team, and I am recommitting to my promise that I will always make addressing gun violence a top priority.
