With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for funding of research and program evaluation projects that inform efforts to prevent and reduce intentional, interpersonal firearm violence and mass shootings in the United States in two categories:
- Research or evaluation of Extreme Risk Protection Order laws, otherwise known as "Red Flag Laws"
- Research on the sources of the firearm used in the commission of a crime and the relationship of those sources to shootings and gun-related violence.
Applications will be submitted in a two-step process, each with its own deadline:
- Submit an SF-424 and an SF-LLL in Grants.gov.
Grants.gov, Deadline: April 20, 2023, 11:59 PM ET
- Submit the full application including attachments in JustGrants.
Application JustGrants, Deadline: May 4, 2023, 8:59 PM ET
Applicants must register with Grants.gov and JustGrants prior to submitting an application.

- Proposal Narrative
- Budget Web-Based Form (The web-based form includes the budget details and the budget narrative.)
- Curriculum Vitae/Resumes for Key Personnel. (For purposes of this solicitation, ?key personnel? means the principal investigator, and any and all co-principal investigators.)
