My colleagues and I on the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Wednesday to kickstart our investigations into the Biden Administration’s handling of the crisis at our southern border. Since President Biden took office, more than 4.5 million migrants have been apprehended, over 100,000 Americans have died from fentanyl poisoning, and nearly 100 known terrorists have been caught. The numbers speak for themselves and we are demanding accountability.
During the hearing, I questioned El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego regarding his open border sympathies and his past comments labeling Republicans as “racist.” Protecting Americans from Fentanyl poisoning, drug cartels, and potential terrorists is a national security issue, not a “race” issue, as Democrats would like you to believe. Gaslighting the American people does not change the fact that our nation is being invaded.
On Thursday, House Republicans also upheld our commitment to national security and Jewish Americans by removing Congresswoman Ilhan Omar from the Foreign Affairs committee. Congresswoman Omar is an unashamed antisemite, has labeled our ally Israel as “evil,” and has downplayed the September 11th attacks on our nation. These remarks call into question Omar’s patriotism and her judgment, and I proudly voted to remove her from the committee.
Take my survey below and keep reading for more information on what’s happening in Washington.
Congressman Gooden’s statement following the hearing, “The United States has been invaded by millions of migrants this year, and the casualties are the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have died from fentanyl poisoning. Republicans are not ‘racist’ for our desire to protect American citizens and ensure our border is secure and migrants are properly vetted. Judge Samaniego’s rhetoric is insulting and hypocritical considering he has begged Governor Abbott for help while denouncing Republican action to stem the flow of migrants.”
INVESTIGATING POLITICIZATION AND BIAS AT THE FBI
The FBI’s liberal bias and targeting of conservatives are indisputable and were on full display this week as they quietly raided President Biden’s beach house, which stands in stark contrast to the leaks and photos published of the raid on President Trump’s home. The House Judiciary Committee will hold their feet to the fire this Congress, and yesterday, Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan launched an investigation into former FBI Special Agent in Charge, Charles McGonigal, who was recently indicted on charges of money laundering and collusion with Russian oligarchs. McGonigal and this Russian oligarch were instrumental in launching the Russia hoax investigation into President Trump, and his indictment raises questions about Russian influence at the FBI, not the Trump campaign.
“President Biden said this would be the most transparent government in history but what we are seeing is a Justice Department that is continuing to do his bidding, defending him…. And the hypocrisy is not flying on Capitol Hill… We just want to know across the Capitol what was the damage that was done to national security from what was found at Joe Biden’s home.”
GOODEN, TUBERVILLE INTRODUCE BILL TO BLOCK ‘SLUSH FUND’ PAYOUTS TO ACTIVIST GROUPS IN LEGAL SETTLEMENTS
“Republicans in the House and Senate are introducing a bill to codify a Trump-era ban on legal settlements from the Justice Departments that involve payouts to third-party groups -- due to a fear that such payments go to "slush funds" at left-wing activist groups.”
