Friend,
There are over 94,000+ open seats this year, and to win, we must start building progressive prochoice power NOW—because we’re one presidential election away from a possible federal abortion ban.
Even though there has been a slowdown in our fundraising, we can make up the difference in our budget last month if just 100 of our donors step forward and give $20 to help us expand the prochoice majority so we can win in 2023 and beyond.
In the absence of federal abortion protections, it’s more important than ever that we elect prochoice champions at EVERY level who will both stand up to the attacks of extremists and proactively move to protect abortion.
We need local leaders who will:
- Dedicate funding to increase access to reproductive care
- Repeal abortion restrictions and TRAP laws
- Expand coverage for access to care
- Protect abortion rights
- Protect patients who self-manage abortions
- Protect providers from prosecution
- Restrict anti-abortion centers (a.k.a. “crisis pregnancy centers”)
#VOTEPROCHOICE’s work is more critical than ever, and our results speak for themselves. Our prochoice champions have shown time and time again that they will fight for our reproductive freedoms, and our strategies and tactics work.
Please, step up and stand with us to help us expand candidate outreach, education, and endorsement programs and expand and serve the prochoice electorate.
Your support is invaluable in the fight against anti-abortion extremists, and I can’t thank you enough for your contributions.
In solidarity,

Friend,
Let’s start with some good news: House Democrats have introduced a bill reversing the Hyde Amendment, which bans the use of federal funding for abortions. While we know the GOP majority will keep the bill from advancing, it’s still a big step in recognizing that a person’s abortion access shouldn’t hinge on their wealth.
But simultaneously, we’re seeing more brazen action in the states to ban or limit abortion and other reproductive freedoms.
Republicans are now using disinformation to come after medication abortion and Plan B, comparing these safe and necessary healthcare tools to opiates, and filing lawsuits against the FDA that falsely claim that mifepristone and misoprostol constitute a “dangerous drug regimen” and that the FDA has failed “to protect the health, safety, and welfare of women and girls.”
The truth is, mifepristone and misoprostol are safer than Tylenol and have allowed millions of people to exercise their body autonomy and terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Just like PAP smears and mammograms, these medications are critical components of reproductive healthcare that should be accessible to all whenever they are needed.
Friend, clearly, anti-abortion extremists will stop at nothing short of a federal abortion ban. And as they continue to also threaten access to birth control and other types of contraception, it’s clear that we need local leaders who will fight for our access to reproductive care of all kinds.
We’ve seen a slowdown in our fundraising, but not a slowdown in anti-abortion legislation and disinformation. Help fund our work to train and elect prochoice champions at the state and local level with a contribution of any amount.
Our 2023 strategy is two-fold:
-
Expand candidate outreach, education, and endorsement programs: with our Care is Not Criminal campaign, we’re focusing on electing prochoice champions to more than 3,000 local and state positions that have huge power to decriminalize abortion care or otherwise keep patients and doctors from being prosecuted.
-
Expanding and serving the prochoice electorate: Focusing on KY, VA, TX, PA, OH, NV, and AZ, we will invest in prochoice voters who aren’t traditionally served by the electoral ecosystem, like women of color and newly registered voters.
Thank you for being a part of this work, we can’t fight for reproductive freedoms without you!
