Join our mission of love this Valentine's Day!

PROGRAM UPDATES:

This past Friday we visited Pro Amore Dei shelter with the help of some very special supporters: Noah and Karen.

We held the very first Vision Clinic, a service where we visit shelters and check the residents' vision to fit them for glasses with the proper prescription. Through this partnership, we hope to visit more shelters in our network and help our migrant siblings see better!

We were able to fit adults and children for new glasses, including Psicologos Sin Fronteras volunteer Evans, and shelter director Doña Lety. We were also able to drive down some of the cold wear and hygiene product donations that our amazing followers donated!

We want to give a big shoutout to Cristihan Carrero, a Venezuelan migrant, and barber who joined our shelter visit this past Friday. Cristhian contacted us and provided his services for free to shelter residents of Pro Amore Dei, including men, women, and children.

Having gone through similar experiences himself, he really identified with our mission of love and shared his passion and skills with us and the migrant families we assist. We never cease to be amazed by the unconditional love and support of our followers and are once again reminded that kind acts go a long way. Haircuts might seem like something small, but they meant so much to the shelter residents who were able to have some time for some much-needed self-care and confidence boost.
THANK YOU CRISTHIAN💇🏽‍♀️💈🖤

If you have a service or skill and would like to donate your time through our Shelter Aid program, please contact us at [email protected] or click here ([link removed]) to donate.
Thank You Gladys!
We want to thank Gladys who drove over an hour down from Murrietta to bring some hygiene-kit donations with things like toothbrushes, deodorants, soap and more!

Gladys has been working with Avon for some time, and she gathered her clients and products for the kits, which she then donated because she felt the call and need to help!

We are always so pleasantly surprised by the kindness and creativity of our followers. If you would like to donate or fundraise for us email us at [email protected]

News Spotlight:

Asylum seekers in Tijuana are scrambling through mobile app error messages for few appointments into the U.S.

CBP One is the new and only way for asylum seekers to request to enter the United States through official ports of entry, but not everyone has been able to use it successfully.

CBP One is part of a series of border policy changes that continue to shift the United States away from the international norm of migrants being allowed to apply for asylum once they’re on the soil of the country where they plan to seek protection. Many of these changes, including CBP One, have meant that those with more resources have easier access to asylum screenings while many of the most vulnerable cases are left out.

Lack of reliable Internet and limited digital savvy, as well as language barriers, are among the issues that are already separating who can get appointments in the new process and who cannot.

The application is now the only way for migrants to request exemptions to Title 42, a policy that blocks asylum seekers and other undocumented migrants from coming onto U.S. soil and instructs border officials to expel those who do so without permission, skipping the generally legally-required screening to see if they qualify for protection.

Grandmothers, grandchildren separated at border, despite U.S. move to reunite migrant families
Nonparents – grandparents, aunts, older siblings – are routinely separated from children at the border, despite federal efforts to keep families together, according to immigrant advocates.

The families are separated under a U.S. law designed to shield asylum-seeking minors from child traffickers and other threats. But the policy often ends up breaking up families and traumatizing children, said Jennifer Podkul, of Kids in Need of Defense, an advocacy group.
