Lauren Underwood For Congress

John, ever since she first took the oath of office, Lauren has used her platform and power as a legislator to raise awareness for one of our nation’s most dire issues: the Black maternal health crisis.

Today, Black women living in the United States are three to four times more likely to die of pregnancy-related causes — the highest rate in the developed world. For Black mothers, what should be an exciting, joyful experience of creating a family too often ends unfairly in tragedy.

Lauren knew we had a responsibility to do something to address the root causes of the rising maternal mortality rates, so she introduced a series of 12 bills dedicated to saving moms' lives in the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act.

Since then, the Protecting Moms Who Served Act was signed into law in November 2021. Of the remaining 11 Momnibus bills, nine bills were included in the Build Back Better Act which is currently stalled in Congress.

These remaining bills, if made law, will reverse the rising trend of maternal mortality, close racial and ethnic disparities in our healthcare system, and invest in resources designed to break down barriers that influence maternal health outcomes.

Moms can’t wait any longer, John. Passing the entire Momnibus is a matter of life or death.

That’s why Lauren is working hard to pass the entire Momnibus package into federal law. If you agree that investing in Black moms’ health and safety is important, can you add your name to show support for Lauren’s ongoing work?

ADD YOUR NAME

Lauren and our team look forward to seeing your name on this list. Together, we will ensure the full slate of Momnibus bills is passed.
