Dear Friends,
Today the Public Safety Committee is hearing bills that will restrict your constitutional right to keep and bear arms. This is all a part of Democrats? extreme measures to fundamentally change our gun laws in Minnesota.
I will always stand up for your rights, and I am already sponsoring two bills to protect the Second Amendment in our state. The first bill would add a constitutional amendment in Minnesota that will guarantee your right to own a gun. The second bill I am co-authoring would ensure that you have the right to self-defense and that you?re are able to protect your home or property. I will keep fighting against these extreme Democrat policies that seek to undermine your constitutional rights.
Yesterday in the Education Finance Committee, we heard a bill to expand voluntary Pre-K for Minnesota kids. When I asked the author how this bill will address funding disparities between metro and Greater Minnesota school districts, her answer will surprise you. Click the photo on the right for her response.
This week, the House also passed a bill to give drivers licenses to undocumented immigrants. Under this change, an undocumented immigrant will be able to obtain a Class D driver?s license, the very same license you or I carry. Not only will this impact the DMV, which already has immense strain on their systems, but it will undermine the integrity of our elections. A driver?s license can be used for same day voter registration. Although Republicans offered amendments to protect our elections, such as changing the orientation of the card or adding wording that says it can?t be used for voting purposes, our commonsense changes were not adopted and so I voted no on this bill.
