It's official, team.

I’ve been assigned to serve on two key committees during the 118th Congress – the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Both posts offer incredible opportunities to make progress here in Illinois’ 17th District and across the country.

As you probably know, House committees dictate the content of bills before they’re presented to the House for a full vote. That means I’ll have a strong voice on legislation related to agriculture and on a broad range of science and technology issues -- including our country’s renewable energy policies.

  • On the Agriculture Committee: I’ll prioritize the needs of Illinois farmers – who are not just an engine for our local economies but a key source for the food our residents put on the table. In the coming months, this committee will be putting forward a new Farm Bill, which will have big implications in how we protect our farm families, secure SNAP funding, and advance new rural development.

  • On the Science, Space, and Technology Committee: As the only meteorologist in Congress, I’m eager to use my expertise on global warming and severe weather to guide our policies on climate change. That means fighting for renewable energy projects in our district and reducing our carbon footprint.

Progress on these issues is what Middle America cares about and needs from their representative. It’s also key to our broader efforts of winning back the rust belt. I’m excited to work, but to stay in a position to make a long-term difference on the issues I’ve discussed here, I’ll need to win re-election in 2024. That’s where you come in:

Will you chip in $5 to help me defend this seat so I can continue fighting for our shared values in Congress?

With gratitude,

Eric
