Dear Friend,

The Supreme Court just wrapped up its investigation into the leak of the
Dobbs decision last year. And the inquiry found . . . nothing.(1) The
Court didn’t find the leak, likely because it came from one of the
justices' own offices -- and the Court didn’t disclose that the firm
running the investigation had personal financial ties to several of the
justices.(2)

Just as the Court didn’t require Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from
cases involving his own wife or her attempt to overturn the 2020
presidential election -- even after it was revealed that Thomas conspired
with his wife about how to overturn the election.(3)

The Supreme Court obviously cannot hold itself accountable.

The court’s corruption is out of control, and if we don’t act, even more
of our rights -- including our right to keep ourselves and our families
safe -- are going to be overturned in favor of an extremist right-wing
agenda. Courage California is gathering hundreds of thousands of
signatures calling on the Senate to investigate the Supreme Court and
institute ethics standards, and we need your help to ramp up publicity for
the campaign.

The Trump-majority Supreme Court has gone rogue, rendering decisions
outside of precedent -- including striking down weapons regulations and
encouraging groups to challenge gun laws in states like California.(4) And
a bombshell report by the New York Times explains how the NRA, Big Oil,
and other large donors have direct access to several Supreme Court
justices.(5)

The Times exposé centers on the so-called Supreme Court Historical
Society, which has drawn in more than $23 million in donations by offering
access to the Court’s justices. That’s probably why more than 60% of the
donations the Times could trace came from people who regularly do business
before the Court, including lobbyists for the gun and oil industries.(6)

And some of the justices are blatantly partisan both on and off the bench.
Trump appointee Brett Kavanaugh was seen at a holiday party hosted by the
Conservative Political Action Conference, alongside far right-wingers Rep.
Matt Gaetz and former Trump officials Sean Spicer and Stephen Miller.
Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, and Samuel Alito also attended
a gala for the Federalist Society, which poured resources into the
overturning of Roe v. Wade.(7)

The most suspect of them all, however, is Justice Clarence Thomas, whose
wife played a significant role in the January 6 insurrection but who has
refused to recuse himself in cases related to the attempt to overturn the
election. In fact, when asked who she got the idea to overturn the
election from, she admitted it was from Justice Thomas himself.(8)

The Supreme Court is charged with impartially deciding cases without
influence, and it is clear that is not the case with the MAGA majority of
this Court.(9) The environment, our civil rights, and the nation’s very
democracy are at stake.

The Senate has the power to investigate the Supreme Court and push for
ethics rules, and our democracy depends on them taking action immediately.
We are going to ramp up a public call to stop the rogue Supreme Court --
will you donate today?
