Dear John,
Speaker Vos’s Water Quality Task Force just released its package of recommendations for cleaning up Wisconsin’s water, and the unthinkable happened. One of the recommendations actually gives polluters a chance to weigh in on the safety of our water – a process that is currently left to scientists and public health experts.
Who’s behind this recommendation? Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce and the American Chemistry Council – powerful deep-pocketed polluters who want to make their own rules when it comes to the safety of our water.
Now is the time for conservation voters to fight back. Your urgent gift today helps us bring hundreds of voters to the Capitol on Clean Water Lobby Day to let decision makers know that Wisconsinites won’t stand for polluters meddling with the safety of our water.
It is entirely unacceptable that a task force working to protect your water and communities would endorse a proposal allowing the state’s most notorious polluters to exact their influence over public health protections.
Contaminated drinking water is real and urgent threat to thousands of families across the state. Water pollution can cause diabetes, birth defects, liver damage, cancer, and even infant death.
Wisconsinites like you and I know this, which is why we’re working tirelessly to bring the faces and voices of Wisconsin’s drinking water crisis to the Capitol on Clean Water Lobby Day and to the ballot box in November. And we will not stop until every person in Wisconsin has safe drinking water.
Will you join us with a gift today that gives us the resources we need to take on polluting special interests and fight for clean, safe drinking water for every Wisconsinite?
Thank you for standing up for Wisconsin’s water.
