Dear John ,
In November, Sen. Cory Booker introduced the Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act (IAA), legislation that could amend the 2023 Farm Bill and provide greater protection for animals.
Activists like you called on senators to support this legislation, which tackles some of the cruelest factory farming practices, including exposure to extreme heat and cold for hours during transport and mass on-farm killing of millions of animals.
After months of tireless work and nearly 15,000 emails sent to senators across the country, we have a historic update.
Today, Senator Booker reintroduced the IAA in the Senate, and Reps. Jim McGovern, Earl Blumenauer, and Grace Meng joined him by introducing the legislation in the House of Representatives.
The IAA addresses various issues related to our food system, such as animal welfare, worker safety, and disaster mitigation. It shifts the costs of exploitation onto those who benefit most: Big Meat.
