As his military pressed its eastern campaign with missile strikes on a key Ukrainian military hub, Vladimir Putin used a speech in the city formerly known as Stalingrad on Thursday to invoke the Soviets’ defeat of the Nazis in a decisive World War II battle and vow that Russia would be victorious again, as the NYT reports.

EU to Double Number of Ukrainian Troops it Trains

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday pressed his visiting European Union counterpart to advance his country’s accession to the bloc, while the EU said it would double the number of Ukrainian troops it trains to 30,000, as the WSJ reports.

Iran Accuses Israel of Attack

Iran on Thursday accused Israel of conducting a drone attack over the weekend on a Defense Ministry complex in the city of Isfahan. The facility took slight damage, by Iran’s account, as The Washington Post reports
