This week at CBPP, we focused on health, housing, the economy, food assistance, and state budgets and taxes.
* On health, Hannah Katch noted ([link removed]) that Medicaid can partner with housing providers and others to address enrollees’ social needs. Katch also pointed out ([link removed]) that providers, patients, and advocates oppose Tennessee’s proposed Medicaid block grant, which would radically change the state’s Medicaid program. Additionally, we updated ([link removed]) our Sabotage Watch tracker on the Trump Administration’s efforts to undermine the Affordable Care Act.
* On housing, Peggy Bailey explained ([link removed]) how housing and health partners can work together to close the housing affordability gap.
* On the economy, Chad Stone, Danilo Trisi, Arloc Sherman, and Jennifer Beltrán updated ([link removed]) our guide to statistics on historical trends in income inequality. We also updated ([link removed]) our backgrounder on how many weeks of unemployment compensation are available.
* On food assistance, Ed Bolen highlighted ([link removed]) lawsuits that seek to block a Trump Administration rule that would end food assistance for nearly 700,000 low-income adults. Joseph Llobrera discussed ([link removed]) how to improve Child Support participation among participants in SNAP without compromising their access to food. Brynne Keith-Jennings and Elizabeth Wolkomir compared ([link removed]) household food assistance in Puerto Rico with the rest of the United States, and Keith-Jennings provided ([link removed]) an introduction to Puerto Rico’s Nutrition Assistance Program.
* On state budgets and taxes, Michael Leachman highlighted ([link removed]) the links between racial justice and state tax policy in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
