Republicans in the Senate are ramping up their efforts in trying to stack the deck in Trump's favor.
Mitch McConnell's coordination with the White House to prevent witnesses from testifying and to prevent the delivery of documents demonstrates all we need to know about Senate Republicans and their attempt to put their thumbs on the scale in Trump's favor. Not only that, but McConnell is taking unprecedented steps to limit press access to the event in an attempt to shield the proceedings from public scrutiny.
Just this past week every senator took their oath to do "impartial justice according to the Constitution and the laws." But as Senate Republicans continue making a mockery of the process, people across the country are speaking out and DEMANDING a fair trial in the Senate that includes more witnesses and ample press coverage.
If Republicans fail to to allow for witnesses and documents and refuse to convict Trump in the Senate, every last one of them will be held accountable for their failure to put the best interests of the country ahead of their party – purely as a desperate attempt to keep Democrats from winning the White House in the fall.
