Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the PFAS Action Act of 2019! This is a huge step forward in the fight for clean water, and it would not have been possible without you — thank you!
This legislation will regulate dangerous, lab-made chemicals called PFAS — found in products like non-stick coatings and firefighting foam — that pose major health risks for communities across the country. And it will hold the biggest polluters accountable for paying to clean up the worst contamination.1
Hearing after hearing in Congress has documented the overwhelming harm that PFAS chemicals have on American communities. And public support for federal action to regulate PFAS is growing every day. Let’s continue that pressure as the fight to protect our drinking water moves to the U.S. Senate.
The Senate must not compromise when it comes to protecting us from potentially cancer-causing chemicals in our water. The Senate must pass the PFAS Action Act of 2019, without any weakening amendments.
Long-term exposure to PFAS chemicals has been associated with health problems including birth defects, thyroid disease, weakened immunity, liver malfunction and certain cancers. Water contamination from PFAS is affecting millions of people in communities across the country.2
As the EPA continues to drag its feet on real PFAS clean-up and regulations and as the Trump administration continues to oppose legislative solutions, it’s more important than ever that the Senate protects our water. Tell your senators to pass the PFAS Action Act!
