Hi — I’m working through our numbers for January and am disappointed to
share that we narrowly missed our fundraising goal for the month. [ [link removed] ]We
could really use your help: if you’d like to help us close the gap, chip
in $5 right now.

When we shared that we were behind on fundraising with Cori, she reached
out to our supporters and shared her story — reiterating the importance of
having someone who’s actually lived the experience at the forefront of
national debates like policing, reproductive rights, housing insecurity,
and more.
Stories like Cori’s are all too common across the country, but rarely
represented in the demographic makeup of Congress. That makes it even more
important that we work hard to stay on top of fundraising to ensure that
when Cori’s singled out by the Republican machine, or even moderate
Democrats for speaking truth to power — she has the resources needed to
fight back.
Bottom line: we have to keep voices like Cori’s in Congress and amplified
across the country.
[ [link removed] ]Will you chip in $5 or anything you can to help us close
the fundraising gap? Together, we can ensure that the nation’s most
important conversations are centered around the people living that
experience.

Hi —
My team told me we’re still short of hitting our January fundraising goal.
They suggested I reach out to explain why I hope you'll chip in to support
the progressive movement we’re building in Congress.
So I’m going to share my story with you. It’s important that you know why
this work matters to me.
[ [link removed] ]When you finish reading, I hope you can chip in $5 to
help us reach our $74,000 fundraising goal and ensure our team has the
resources we need to make progress in Congress.

There aren’t many people in Congress who have lived the struggles that I
have,
John.
I’ve been evicted, unhoused, and lived in a car with my two babies. I will
never forget the nights when I was unhoused where my eyes would water as I
fought to stay awake, worried about what would happen to my children if I
fell asleep. When I used McDonald's bathrooms to mix baby formula and wash
my body because I had no other options.
I’ve been on the ground brutalized by police violence. When Michael Brown
Jr. was murdered by police just six minutes from where I lived in 2014, I
didn't take to the streets for a title or a name. I was sent by my
employer to serve as a triage nurse and to assist with grief and trauma
work. But, I showed up to protest the day after Michael Brown was killed,
and I came back every day for the next 400 days.
I was sexually assaulted at 17 and chose to have an abortion. I saw up
close how Black women are treated by our health care system and the
challenges we face in accessing abortion care.
There are very few members of Congress who understand what this is like,
but I know that there are millions of people in our communities who share
these experiences.
That’s why I decided to run for Congress: It’s past time we elect folks
who understand first-hand the challenges everyday people face. And now,
I’m up against a Republican-controlled Congress and must make sure we
continue building our movement for meaningful, people-first change.
Today, I’m asking for a favor: [ [link removed] ]Will you chip in $5 or
anything you can to help us reach our fundraising goal before our deadline
tonight? Every dollar gives us the resources we need to write a new
chapter in politics centered in justice, love, and compassion.
Thank you for all of your support.
Your Congresswoman loves you,
Cori
