Folks,
When I was first elected to Congress back in 2018, I vowed to be a champion for the Michigan manufacturers and innovators who are building America’s future here in the heartland.
Last year’s passage of the CHIPS and Science Act was a critical step forward, but there is still work left to be done. And as the economic engine of the Midwest, Oakland County must continue to lead the world in green technology, advanced manufacturing, and electric vehicle production.
So, after deep consideration, I have decided that I can best serve Michigan’s working families, manufacturers, students, and small businesses in my current role.
Therefore, I will not be seeking election to the United States Senate at this time.
This is not a decision I took lightly, and I’ve been so incredibly humbled by the support I have received from all across our great state. I will always fight for you in Congress.
Michigan has such a deep bench of diverse, highly qualified candidates, and I am committed to working to elect the best Democrat for the job to keep Michigan blue in 2024 and beyond.
But the fight ahead won’t be easy. With Michigan poised to move up in the 2024 presidential primary calendar, and a highly contested U.S. Senate race on the ballot, our state will be flooded by millions in GOP dark money and Republican spending.
That’s why it is absolutely critical we build the early, grassroots infrastructure to compete in what is sure to be Michigan’s most expensive U.S. Senate race of all-time.
So please, will you make an early investment in Michigan’s future today by adding a $25 split donation to Michigan’s 2024 Democratic Senate Nominee Fund? No matter who runs in 2024, it will take all of us to win this seat and defend our Democratic Senate majority.
For Michigan,
Haley Stevens
