John,
Did you know that Jan and her colleagues are reintroducing the
Save Medicare Act?
This bill renames so-called “Medicare Advantage” plans, prohibits private insurers from using “Medicare” in plan titles or advertisements, and imposes significant fines for any insurer that engages in this deceptive practice.
Here’s why this bill is important:
Medicare Advantage is NOT Medicare. Medicare pays private-sector health insurers a fixed payment and then the insurer pays for the health care expenses of the enrollees. With Medicare Advantage, the insurers are allowed to vary the benefits and costs of the coverage, sticking seniors with massive bills they weren’t expecting.
Older Americans are signing up for Medicare Advantage plans that may not cover the care they need. The
Save Medicare Act will help us put an end to the false advertising.
If you agree that scamming our seniors with programs like Medicare Advantage should not be allowed, add your name now.

According to the federal Medicare Payment Advisory Commission’s 2022 report to Congress, at least $12 billion in overpayments were made to Medicare Advantage plans in 2020 by the federal government.
Private insurance companies are preying on seniors and people with disabilities by driving up costs and denying care to people who need it. Jan is working around the clock to expand real Medicare and calling out private insurers by reintroducing the
Save Medicare Act.
