House Republicans are voting on a bill that would abolish the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Fair Tax Act would also eliminate all federal taxes in favor of "FairTax"-- a 23% national retail sales tax. Although, in reality, it's closer to a 30% sales tax.

After years of protests from activists and blood bank workers, the FDA has proposed an easing of the restrictions on blood donations from gay and bisexual men who are in monogamous relationships, allowing them to donate blood for the first time since 1985.

The seven states that rely on water from the Colorado River – Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming — were given until Jan. 31 to come to an agreement on voluntary cuts to their water usage.
The federal government requires the states to cut 2 million to 4 million acre-feet of water and may have to step in if the states can't decrease their usage.
