Our country is at a crossroads. While we work to develop solutions to the impending climate and energy crises, Republicans continue to push for more reliance on oil and gas – a false solution that has only resulted in price volatility and pain for everyday Americans.
Here’s the reality of this situation: clean, innovative energy technologies are the long-term solution needed to address this crisis and meet our climate goals.
Not only are clean energy technologies becoming cheaper than fossil fuels, but they also support energy security with domestic production to reduce our reliance on foreign adversaries. This must be central to our approach.
We delivered a huge investment in climate action with the Inflation Reduction Act, now we must follow up with swift action and implementation.

The U.S. is significantly lagging behind other countries in building inter-regional transmission lines that are necessary to upgrading our power grid to support clean energy projects. Those delays are largely due to slow, outdated, and excessive permitting processes put in place by 50-year-old legislation.
Most of the critical solar, wind, and energy storage projects currently in the pipeline stand to be canceled if we cannot quickly build the necessary infrastructure to transmit that energy.
Funding clean energy projects is only part of the battle. If we don’t act faster, that investment will not be enough to address the magnitude of the climate and energy security crises.
We need to update the laws and regulations that are standing in the way of quick clean energy implementation – environmental protection and energy security can’t wait.
