The Biden border crisis has entered its third year and is only getting worse.
It is absurd for the Biden administration to expect Texas to bear the brunt of this crisis on our own. That’s why I, along with every other Texas House Republican, sent a letter to President Biden demanding he reimburse Texas for Operation Lone Star. Here is what Texas has accomplished on its own:
I commend Governor Abbott and the Texas National Guard for their efforts in securing our border and protecting our communities. With apprehensions and drug busts continuing to rise, the Biden administration must realize that no state can combat the multi-billion dollar cartels that run our southern border alone.
This is exactly why Section 4 Article 4 of the Constitution requires the federal government to protect states from invasion. The Biden/Mayorkas regime’s dereliction of duty in this regard is disgraceful, and House Republicans must hold them accountable. This starts with impeaching and removing Secretary Mayorkas.
Texas Republicans and I have a plan to end this crisis which you can read HERE.

Protecting Our Energy Reserves
|
Instead of unleashing American oil and gas, this Administration vilifies American energy producers, encourages Americans to buy electric cars, and pleads with foreign dictators to pump more oil — all while draining oil from our emergency reserves to suppress prices. That’s why last week, I voted in favor of the Strategic Production Response Act. This bill would prevent the Biden administration from endangering our nation’s energy supply by draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) until the Department of Energy develops a plan to increase the percentage of federal lands leased for oil and gas production.
Texans stand ready to meet our nation’s energy demands, but the Biden administration would prefer to push their irresponsible "Green Agenda." We must make a return to Trump-era energy policies and regain energy independence.
However, equally important is the fact that this bill was voted on with what is known as a “modified open rule.” In short, this allows for Members of Congress to offer amendments that will be made in order and get voted on the House floor. This is a massive change to the status quo and I am glad to see some of the changes I and others negotiated for being put into practice.

Last week I spoke on the House floor in honor of the March For Life and discussed the importance of the Pro-Life movement.
In the decade leading up to the overturn of Roe v. Wade, the left’s views on abortion have shifted from wanting them to be “safe and rare,” to clamoring for abortions on demand and paid for by American taxpayers. This is not where the American people are at — especially as technological developments over the last several decades have given us a clearer picture of a pre-born child in the womb.
In the five decades since Roe v. Wade was decided, we have made incredible advancements in medical technology that illustrate the humanity of the preborn: As early as 5 weeks, unborn babies in the womb have a heartbeat. By 10 weeks, the child has formed arms, legs, fingers, and toes. At 15 weeks the child has a fully developed heart, facial features, and can even yawn and hiccup. This is a child, and it deserves protection.
This year’s March For Life was the first since the question of abortion was given back to states. While this is a victory worthy of celebrating, we must continue to fight to ensure that the life of a preborn child is not dependent on the state in which the mother resides.

It’s always a pleasure to meet with some South Texans and learn more about how I can advance their ideas and priorities in Washington.
Last week I met with Nueces County Judge Connie Scott to discuss ways to build a strong relationship between local and federal leadership in order to best serve Nueces County. Additionally, I met with the Nueces County Hospital District (NCHD) and discussed pressing concerns involving FEMA Public Assistance funds. I capped off the day with a meet-and-greet at Coffee Waves Flour Bluff — a great opportunity to chat about the news of the day, legislative items, and local issues with y'all!

- Recently I signed onto a letter demanding answers regarding DirecTV's decision to drop Newsmax from their service.
