To stop taxpayer-funded animal experiments, we must first stop wasteful government spending. To receive fewer emails from White Coat Waste Project, please adjust your preferences.

Taxpayer, thanks to 1,342 generous donors, we reached our rapid response budget to defund the NIH’s maximum-pain virus experiment on monkeys. Now we’re ramping up our fight!

We are sincerely grateful for your continued support as we wage the War on Waste. Because of YOU — our incredible grassroots army — we’ve successfully shut down more government animal labs than any other group.

And we’re not planning on slowing down in 2023. In fact, we’re hitting the ground running:

BREAKING: Congress just re-introduced TWO WCW-backed bills to cut taxpayer funding for cruel and dangerous animal experiments, known as gain-of-function experiments, that supercharge viruses to make them deadlier and more contagious.

To understand why this legislation is so crucial for animals AND public health, please read the full update (pasted below).

Stop the money. Stop the madness!

Congress Renews Push to Defund EcoHealth Alliance & Dangerous Gain-of-Function Experiments

It’s only the third week of the new year and a new Congressional session, but we’re already whacking wasteful spending on Capitol Hill!

On the heels of a damning federal audit prompted by WCW that documents how the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and EcoHealth Alliance (EHA) violated federal policies and mismanaged the notorious and wasteful grant that funded the Wuhan animal lab, lawmakers are taking swift and decisive action.

Today, Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) and colleagues re-introduced the WCW-backed Viral Gain-of-Function (GOF) Research Moratorium Act to defund dangerous animal experiments that supercharge viruses to make them deadlier and more contagious.

Seems like common sense, right? Well, despite grave concerns that the Wuhan lab’s taxpayer-funded coronavirus GOF experiments on humanized mice probably caused the pandemic, we exposed how the white coats at the NIH have been actively lobbying to continue funding these risky and cruel animal tests!

We’ve been working to defund GOF for years and backing bipartisan efforts in Congress to do just that. We recently scored a huge win by defunding dangerous virus experiments in foreign adversaries’ labs, and Sen. Marshall’s bill would ensure that we block this scary spending at home and abroad. Even the Obama-Biden Administration agreed this was prudent and halted funding for GOF back in 2014 (it, unfortunately, resumed in 2017).

Also today, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) re-introduced the Defund EcoHealth Alliance Act

As White Coat Waste Project (WCW) has exposed over the past three years, EHA shipped tax dollars to the Wuhan animal lab for dangerous experiments that experts believe sparked COVID, violated a federal gain-of-function ban, broke transparency laws and policies, and actively obstructed investigations into COVID’s origins.  The new federal audit mentioned above confirms that EHA broke rules and wasted money, too.

Yet, just since the pandemic began, EHA has raked in at least $46 million in new taxpayer funds from the Dept. of Defense, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), NIH,  and National Science Foundation (NSF)!

Uncle Sam is still making it rain on EHA even though 75 percent of taxpayers want its disgraced president Peter Daszak subpoenaed to testify before Congress.

Taxpayers should not be forced to bankroll reckless white coats who waste money, break the law and place public health in peril.

We’re excited to hit the ground running this year and hit the animal experimenters where it hurts most—their bank accounts.
