Jack, shortly after reelecting Ronna McDaniel as chair, the Republican National Committee's first item of business was to double-down on its losing agenda: push anti-abortion legislation on the state and federal levels. Republicans are focusing on cruel so-called "heartbeat bills," laws that prohibit abortions after six weeks, when some people don't even know they are pregnant.

One month into the new year and ten states have already introduced legislation to ban all or most abortions. A handful of other states have introduced legislation that would restrict abortion clinic access, telemedicine, medication abortion, or introduce waiting periods to get abortion care.

We have our work cut out for us this year. We need to educate and mobilize activists to do everything possible to defeat these anti-abortion bills. We need to support people that now have to travel out of their states in order to access safe and legal abortion care, all while trying to elect more Democrats up and down the ballot in every corner of the country.

This is going to be a long, multi-pronged campaign, and we can't back down from this fight. That's why I am asking if you can support the work Daily Kos does to protect our right to safe and legal abortion care by making a recurring donation of $5 a month.
