Today, newborns are not given equal medical treatment.
Why?
Because when a baby is born alive following a botched abortion, some doctors have allowed that living, breathing child to die right there. Thankfully, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in January with only one Democrat supporting the bill, and now it is time for the Senate to put in place common sense protections for all newborns.
Only 10 states are even required to report on instances of babies born alive following an abortion, so we know the numbers are even higher than what is public today. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which is being led in the Senate by Senators James Lankford (OK) and John Thune (SD), requires that the medical community provide proper medical care to all newborn patients, including those who survived a gruesome abortion procedure. And babies do survive late-term abortions.
Abortion survivors are speaking out on this issue, letting the world know that they exist and that their lives are worth fighting for. The organization Abortion Survivors Network has over 600 abortion survivors in their network and has rallied around proposals such as Born-Alive because they understand lives like their own are at stake once again this Congress. How can you help? -
Please urge your two U.S. senators to support the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act! You can send the message to both of your senators in just moments on our Action Center.
- Please share the Action Center link with friends, family, church members and other like-minded people. Only one Democrat voted to protect life in the House. NOW is the time to inform others on what is happening to newborn babies and to flood the Senate with a resounding pro-life message!
