Hi John.
I hope you’re well! Here’s the latest on how we’re serving every person and corner of our community.
Building an Economy that Works for Everyone
My mom raised my brothers and me on her own. I saw how hard she worked to support us, and I know many families are working just as hard these days to get ahead. Unfortunately, today many are facing tough challenges and rising prices. I’m making it my top priority to ensure everyone has the same opportunities to succeed that I had.
That’s why I’m pleased to share that my new committee assignments are focused on one thing: Building an economy that works for everyone.
This year, I began my new two-year term of serving you in the U.S. House of Representatives. My three committee assignments were just finalized – Transportation and Infrastructure, Agriculture, and Small Business.
On the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I’m looking forward to building on the success of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. It’s already making a difference for Kansas by modernizing U.S. 69 in Overland Park and replacing lead pipes in Olathe.
I’m also honored to serve on the Agriculture Committee. This position is crucial for supporting Kansas’ tradition of agriculture as the largest economic sector in the state. And on the Small Business Committee, I’ll keep working with both parties to give entrepreneurs the tools they need to thrive.
Making a Difference for Kansans
My team and I are also continuing to make progress on delivering concrete results for the Kansas Third District. We’ve successfully secured new federal resources for several local community projects to create jobs, improve safety, and help families.
That includes resources to purchase two new, state-of-the-art imaging machines at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
We’re lucky to have such a widely respected and advanced medical research center in our region. With these new scanners, they’ll be even better equipped to contribute to medical research breakthroughs as they have for decades.
I’m also glad to share that we secured federal support to buy as many as 10 new, zero-emission buses.
Along with the bipartisan infrastructure law, this will help improve our public transit system’s reliability and increase accessibility for seniors and passengers with disabilities.
I was glad to work with Congressman Cleaver, KCATA, and other state and local leaders to secure these resources to improve the quality of life for folks in the Kansas Third.
These local projects passed detailed reviews and met high standards for return on investment.
I’ve long fought for responsible budget policies to protect taxpayers, like pay-as-you-go rules. These investments maintain that commitment to fiscal responsibility while making a difference for Kansas.
Serving Every Person and Corner of the Kansas Third District
I also wanted to give you a heads up about some resources and services to help Kansas families.
First, my office just launched its fifth annual “Valentines for Vets” program. This is when we collect and distribute Valentine’s Day cards to veterans and caregivers in the Kansas Third District. It’s a great way to show our appreciation for those who have sacrificed so much to keep us safe.
Please click here to learn more about it and see how you can contribute.
Please mail your cards to my office in Overland Park or email a card or message to [email protected].
My team is also continuing to offer more Pop Up Office Hours across the Kansas Third District.
If you need help with the federal government – anything from veterans’ benefits to stalled passports – you can schedule an appointment at one of our Pop Up offices to more conveniently get help in your own neighborhood.
Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just for special interests, big corporations, or the extremes of either party. Whether we agree on every issue or not is beside the point. My job is to serve you, regardless of party.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
My warmest regards,
Sharice L. Davids Member of Congress
