This must be what it feels like to live in a BLUE - Democrat state.

Yesterday was the committee deadline for bills in the MS Legislature, the first deadline for bills in the legislative process. All bills that were not successfully passed out of committee died.

It was a tough day for true conservatives and Republicans that actually abide by the party platform. Deep red Republican-led states all over the country are passing bills that are:

  • Reforming our elections and creating more integrity to our election system;
  • Bringing educational freedom and more choices for parents to educate their children;
  • Religious and Medical Freedom for parents and their children;
  • Reforming the medical industry with free market solutions to lower prices and provide better care;
  • Parents' Bill of Rights that acknowledges the Parent’s right to raise their children apart from the government;
  • Eliminating the state’s income tax.

But not here in Mississippi. After yesterday’s deadline, bills to do all of these things have died in committee. Leaving little hope for conservative bills to be passed this year to do any of these things. After watching so many conservative bills die in committees led by Republican chairmen, with a supermajority of Republican members.

We wonder, is this what it feels like to be a Freedom Caucus in a blue state like Illinois? Watching good conservative legislation die a quick death while bills to grow government, increase taxation, grow budgets, and stick it to the tax payers continue through the process.

Today is the qualification deadline to challenge incumbents in the MS Legislature at 5:00 pm. It's not too late to challenge those members who call themselves conservatives on the campaign trail, but do the complete opposite, representing you here in Jackson.
