John,

It’s been a long-fought fight, but the financial sector is finally starting to take climate change seriously.

Here’s the biggest step forward thus far: Government watchdogs have started to set climate risk disclosure standards for companies. This would put climate change at the center of investment plans, which could help promote sustainable practices in the private sector.

But before these disclosure standards go into effect, they are being faced with a gauntlet of right-wing propaganda attempting to stop them dead.

That’s right, Kevin McCarthy, Ron DeSantis, and House Republicans are pushing out a narrative of "woke capitalism" as a way to scare and shame companies from advancing climate change policies. They’re trying to elevate responsible corporate climate practices into their identity politics. We are at a tipping point with the climate crisis. We can’t let climate denial dominate policy agendas again. SEEC Members are ready to go toe-to-toe against any attempts to turn back our progress. Will you donate now to help them keep up the fight? DONATE » [[link removed]]John, these aren’t just empty words. The GOP has plans already in motion in their “woke capitalism” narrative:

*
Speaker
McCarthy’s
close
ally
Rep.
Patrick
McHenry
(R-NC)
is
the
new
chair
of
the
Committee
on
Financial
Services.
McHenry
has
already
publicly
called
climate
disclosures
a
“far-left
social
agenda,”
and
in
this
key
position,
he
alone
could
destroy
these
standards
before
they’re
set
in
place.
*
If
McHenry
fails
in
his
mission,
GOP
state
attorneys
general
have
already
stated
they
will
take
climate
disclosure
standards
to
court.
*
And
conservative
policy
organization
ALEC
is
promoting
legislation
barring
state
pension
funds
from
considering
the
climate
in
their
investment
decisions.

While the GOP is laser-focused on blocking progress, SEEC Members are making effective, holistic policies to address the climate crisis. We need to stand strong against this coming storm. Donate now to help SEEC Members stop the far-right's rebranded climate-denying agenda. [[link removed]]
