Earlier this week, a group called “Californians for Energy Independence” launched ads attacking Governor Newsom’s proposal to stop oil companies from charging obscenely high prices for gas while making record profits.
And who are these “Californians” so concerned about “energy independence?” Who is funding these ads?
It’s the oil companies.
It’s the same oil companies that are making record profits at the expense of California families.
It’s the same oil companies that made $63 billion in 90 days and gave billions in stock buy backs to Wall Street investors while jacking up the price of gas to record levels.
This is about greed.
It’s about the greed of oil companies who pollute the planet for profit and while price gouging at the pump.
And they are used to getting their way because they can afford to run ads and spend huge amounts of money on lobbying.
Not this time.
Governor Newsom has called for a special session of the state legislature to outlaw oil companies reaping windfall profits at your expense. If they break that law, California will penalize them and give the money directly back to you as a rebate.
Today, we want you to send a message that you have had enough of the greed of these companies. So we are asking:
