Oil money is toxic, friend.

An analysis in our 2022 California Environmental Scorecard reveals that a shocking 64% of state legislators (77/120) take oil money.

That includes every single Republican, but it’s not just Republicans. 54% of Democrats accept oil money too!

While corporate polluters continue to try to buy their influence in Sacramento, EnviroVoters is on the frontlines defeating Big Oil.

Last year our advocacy helped pass major climate wins including a globally significant Plastic Pollution Reduction Act (SB 54), a commitment to carbon neutrality (AB 1279), a ban on Big Oil’s greenwashing (SB 1314), and a long-fought win for frontline communities to ban oil drilling near homes and schools (SB 1137). And 85% of our endorsed legislative candidates won last fall, many against Big Oil-backed candidates.

Will you make a donation to help us fight back against corporate polluters and continue to advance bold climate action?

Despite a landmark year for climate in 2022, it could have been so much better if not for the corrosive influence of oil money.

Get this, friend:

In our Scorecard, the average score of a Democrat who accepted oil money was 62%. The average score of a Democrat who didn’t accept oil money was 94%!

Moreover, there were lots of incredibly impactful bills that DID NOT pass last year, including SB 260, which would have required $1 billion-plus corporations doing business in California to disclose their total carbon emissions in an accessible and understandable way to the public.

This bill to hold corporate polluters accountable failed in the Assembly by one vote. That’s no coincidence.

Corporate polluters’ political influence has done irreparable damage to our public health and economy.

Corporate responsibility is a 2023 priority for EnviroVoters. Please chip in just $15 today to help us hold corporate polluters and Big Oil-backed legislators accountable for their contributions to the climate crisis → [link removed]
