When our campaign has a goal that we haven’t met yet, calling up corporate
PACs to close the gap isn’t an option. And that’s by design.

Many of my colleagues raise the vast majority of their money from those
very same sources — 70, 80, and sometimes even 90%. Their small-dollar
donations are few and far between.

That’s not us. At our core, we believe that if you want to fight for the
people, then you have to be funded by the people. No private audiences for
wealthy lobbyists, no special treatment for special interests.

But that does mean that when we need a little help, we have to ask you —
through emails just like these — if you can chip in just a little bit to
get us over the line. Today’s one of those days.
