Friend, it's because of this powerful community that we’re celebrating major advocacy wins from the past year. Your advocacy enabled policy change to extend support to children and increase U.S. Government funding that allowed UNICEF to scale up their programs.
UNICEF USA’s Advocacy team works year-round to urge Congress to pass policies and secure funding to support and empower children. We’re also fortunate to get an up-close look at the impact our supporters make as we rely on thousands of advocates like you to amplify our calls for action.
While we celebrate and reflect on our progress in 2022, we remain laser-focused on the important work that lies ahead. Feel inspired to do more by reviewing some of our wins over the last year. |
In 2022, our community advocated for action that:
-
Boosted UNICEF funding
Congress invested $134 million in UNICEF funding to respond to emergencies and reach the most vulnerable children around the globe -
Improved access to mental health services in schools
Congress invested $5.27 billion in mental health research, treatment and prevention -
Protected migrant children and families
Thousands of advocates pushed the Biden Administration to terminate the "Remain in Mexico” policy and called for more protection for migrant children |
We can’t say enough about how grateful we are to every person who took time out of their day to sign a letter, send an email or add their voice to bringing change for children. As we kick off our 2023 advocacy agenda, we’re rallying for continued support on a range of global humanitarian issues, including expanding global mental health services for at-risk children — and you can help.
The 118th Congress must continue to invest in and make children’s mental health a priority. It’s up to us to ensure that Congress realizes the importance of this issue and knows that supporting children’s mental health will lead to a better future for us all.
Make our call for action heard today by signing this letter urging Congress to make childrens’ mental well-being a priority in 2023 >>
Thank you and mark your calendars for our next Advocacy Webinar on February 23rd where you’ll have the opportunity to learn about more ways to advocate for children.
