Celebrating 40 Years of WID 2023 marks 40 years since WID was founded! Judy Heumann, Joan Leon and Ed Roberts founded WID as a research center and as a resource for information such as training, public education and technical assistance for disabled people. We are honored to continue to be a nonprofit that has been continually led by disabled people, advocating for serving the disability community for 40 years! Join us this year on our media channels as we acknowledge advancements made within society for people with disabilities and what we collectively have achieved with our funders, supporters, advocates, WID past leaders, staff, allies, and partners. ABLE Age Adjustment Act Passes The US Congress has passed the ABLE Age Adjustment Act, which increases the age of disability onset to qualify for an ABLE savings account and increases the account savings limit to an annual contribution of $17,000. The savings increase begins in 2023. The increase of the disability onset age to 46 will begin in 2026. WID is proud to have worked on this bill that was introduced by Senator Bob Casey!
