Thanks to two generous donors, the first $125,000 in donations to the Ukraine Fund will be matched.
Hello John,
This past year, the people of Ukraine have shown tremendous strength and resilience in the face of Russia’s ruthless and repressive full-scale invasion. Nonetheless, groups that were vulnerable before the war – including LGBTIQ people – are suffering disproportionately. Leonid, a 38-year-old artist from the Ukrainian city of Zhytomyr, shares:
"A friend from Kyiv called me and asked if it was true that there was a raid that night and said that there was a war in Ukraine. And after that call, the siren started to wail and there was a strong explosion - it was the first explosion I remembered for my whole life. Now I live in Germany, in Munich The war turned my life very much upside down. Even here in Europe, I have nightmares about everything that happened in Ukraine. During the war I lost more than 8 kg of my weight due to stress. My health was broken, I started to live constantly in fear, worrying about tomorrow.”

Because of support from generous donors like you, Outright was able to support the LGBTIQ-serving organization Ty Ne Odin [“You are not alone”], which has provided emergency assistance to LGBTIQ people in Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Vinnitsa, Kherson, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhya, Kyiv region and other occupied cities, and helped Leonid safely relocate from Ukraine to Germany.
Yet, Leonid’s story is but one of many whose lives have been completely upended because of the war in Ukraine. And the reality is, a majority of people impacted by the war remain in the country.
For those of us watching the horrors from afar and wondering how we can help LGBTIQ people whose country and lives are being destroyed, here's how: donate to Outright’s Ukraine LGBTIQ Emergency Fund ([link removed]) .

Thanks to the Dropbox Foundation and an Anonymous donor, the first $125,000 in donations during February will be matched 1:1. Please help Outright reach our goal of raising $250,000 in emergency support for LGBTIQ people impacted by the war in Ukraine.
As the brutal winter continues, your generous contribution ([link removed]) will provide LGBTIQ people in Ukraine with safe and warm shelter, food and medical supplies, hygiene kits and clean clothing, counseling services, and transportation and relocation.
On behalf of all of us at Outright, thank you for your generosity of heart.
In Solidarity,
Maria Sjödin
