Dear Friend,
Gov. Kathy Hochul unveiled her budget for next year.
This kicks off weeks of negotiations in Albany. I will be here fighting to ensure we get the best deal for New Yorkers.
As you know, my top priority right now is our #RaiseTheWage legislation. This proposal would raise the minimum wage and permanently index it to keep up with the rising cost of living. It’s a chance to make a real change for millions of New Yorkers who need it most.
The governor included part of our plan in her State of the State speech last month. I want to make sure she keeps it in the budget.
I am also pushing to get the Unemployment Bridge Program included. Did you know that union members, freelancers, undocumented immigrants and workers in re-entry programs are currently locked out of unemployment assistance? That has got to stop.
I am working to make a change.
This process is incredibly important for the people in our state. I will be in Albany standing up for you and fighting for a better, fairer budget.
It’s an incredibly important moment that will have real
consequences for New Yorkers. I need your support to ensure I can keep up the fight for progressive change in our state.
Can you chip in $5, $3, or whatever you can afford to help me make the most of these crucial negotiations? This is crunch time. Your donations will help me stand strong and show the governor you support the needs of working people in this state.
I will keep you posted throughout the budget process. I am so grateful for your support and encouragement.
In service,
Jessica Ramos
