You’d think President Biden might want to resolve the war in Ukraine that risks, according to the President’s own words, “nuclear Armageddon.” Instead, the President is sending Ukraine 31 high-powered battlefield tanks, the Abrams M-1 by General Dynamics, which will only escalate the war with Russia. And already, Ukraine’s President Zelensky is saying the tanks aren’t enough–the U.S. must send fighter jets– moving us even closer to WWIII.

Tell your members of Congress to oppose the tanks and more weapons for Ukraine because there is no military solution. We need a ceasefire and negotiated settlement.

In a policy reversal, Biden decided to export these hard-to-maintain, toxic, jet gas-powered tanks, usually coated with depleted uranium, for a spring offensive guaranteed to result in more death, destruction and climate havoc in Ukraine, home to a third of the European continent’s biodiversity.

Biden’s sudden about-face comes after weeks of back and forth with Germany, which has now decided–despite widespread public opposition–to send its own Leopard tanks to Ukraine.

Tell your members of the House and Senate “Tanks, no thanks!” These tanks from the US, Germany and other European countries threaten to widen the war to include all of Europe.

Both Ukraine and Russia are preparing for spring offensives and counter-offensives to be fought in Eastern Ukraine–the site of a near decade-long civil war– or Crimea, the location of Russia’s naval fleet on the Black Sea. Preparations for these offensives undermine the possibility of a diplomatic solution, as both sides dig in their heels for a protracted proxy war between the United States and Russia, the two most heavily armed nuclear nations in the world.

Say NO to the toxic tanks. Say NO to perpetual war. Say YES to diplomacy and peace.
