Hi John,

My name is Alon Gur, I’m managing Alexandra Hunt’s Philadelphia City Controller campaign, and I am tired. Partially because I’m a newish dad raising a young ball of energy. Partially because our campaign is also running full speed – we are getting used to late nights. But last night was a little different.

We had lots of reasons to celebrate. 31 reasons, as our Philadelphia Eagles cemented their spot in the Super Bowl. 

What else can we say – Go Birds.

Today it’s a little bit back to reality. The Eagles had home field advantage and you could hear what that meant throughout the City. It’s part of what makes Philly so special – the party downtown could be heard miles out, and in truth that party was citywide. Folks from all over the country agree nobody celebrates quite like Philadelphia. And we’re just getting started.

Well, we woke up more certain than ever that our campaign needs that same home field advantage. 

We are looking for a field office, we're firing up our data collection program, and we are putting together the field structure that will collect petition signatures to put us on the ballot. 

All of this costs money and we need your help, right now.

This is a city of underdogs. We know we can win, but we need your support to do that. We are taking on powerful corporate interests, a political machine that does not want us in the room and laughs in our faces when we are, and self-funding wealthy white guys trying to buy an office tasked with ensuring financial integrity. 

Tens of thousands of you supported Alexandra’s congressional campaign, and we are fighting the same fight here – only we are doing it citywide. The scale is much larger. We can reach more voters, but we need your help right now. The time to sit on the sidelines is over.

Campaign Manager | Alexandra Hunt for Philadelphia City Controller

Alexandra Hunt is a public health researcher, a girls’ soccer coach, an advocate for social, racial, economic, and environmental justice, and a community organizer. 

She's the daughter of two teachers and a sister to a twin brother with a learning disability. Seeing the systemic obstacles her brother faced inspired Alexandra to become an advocate and challenge barriers on the basis of race, gender, class, and ability.

Now, Alexandra's running to be the Philly's next City Controller because the people in Philly work too hard for too little. And right now, line items in budgets create lines for food and health care. It's time to elect a City Controller who is going to prioritize the needs of the communities Philly's money comes from.
