Dear Friends,
Today, we celebrate Ida May Fuller receiving the very first Social Security check in our nation’s history in 1940. Since then, millions of Americans have paid into and received these benefits after a lifetime of hard work.
Especially as Republican proposals would make significant cuts to Social Security, it is as important now as ever to ensure they are not successful. I spoke on the House floor about this issue earlier today, and you can watch my remarks below.
There are more than 146,000 residents in Connecticut’s First District who receive Social Security benefits every year. I am honored to lead the fight in Washington to protect and expand benefits as we are united in our efforts to ensure Social Security serves our nation for years to come.

Regards,
John B. Larson
